Electric vs. Combustion Vehicle Sales - April 2021
A total of 5,715,789 cars (5,289,514 combustion and 426,275 plug-in vehicles) were sold in April 2021. EV worldwide represents 7.5% of total sales volumes this month.

Sales numbers for electric and combustion vehicles by countries or territories for the month of April. You will find new car registrations statistics for Passenger Cars (PC) and Electric Vehicles (EV) in the largest automotive markets.



This data table looks at April 2021 total automotive volumes sold in main countries by engine (electric vs. combustion).

• Passenger Cars include Light Vehicles as well as SUVs.
• EV include PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and BEVs (pure electric).

• EV sales from Turkey and Hungary are collected quarterly.
• Russia has a huge used EV market but we just record new cars purchases.
• Australia Tesla sales are reported quarterly.
• Japan sales includes in April 2021 report 224 units of FCEVs (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) as EV.
